The reference photo for this painting was taken in Tombstone, Arizona, home of the OK Corral. David and Gina are standing under what is billed as the largest rose bush in the world. The biggest challenge of this painting was working with the shadows. Below is the reference photo:

I spent a very long time on this painting trying to refine it and make corrections. Below are several photos of the portraits as they took shape. Some of them have red corrections marks.
